ColorsColor was the start of this project. At the time I'd been unable to get the song Colors Pt. 1 by Halsey out of my head. In the song there is a line that says "Everything is blue", which made me think "What does the color blue mean". As it turned out, the color blue represents wisdom, intelligence, and loyalty among with other things. Colors and their meanings have always intriguing me, however this is the first time I looked at them in depth. I chose the colors, yellow, magenta, blue, green, and grey.

Personal cultureWhen I originally started this project I wasn't sure what personal culture was, so I took to some research. In that I found this personal culture article by someone who wrote it, (I assume anyway) while in high school. Through contextual evidence I furthered my knowledge on the topic through the understanding that personal culture is the combination of the values, beliefs, and people that you believe in and you surround yourself with. My beliefs, values, and constant actions are apart of the things that make me who I am. Music, family, heritage, academics, and identity, are all important aspects of my personal culture.

REASONING (THROUGH ENGLISH AND SOCIAL STUDIES)For the reasoning portion of my project I created an informative essay. In my essay I connected my aspects of personal culture to certain aspects of American culture as well as to the specific color. I connected the color yellow to the aspect of music. I chose the color yellow because it means fun, youthfulness, joy, along with many other happy and upbeat things. I chose magenta to represent my identity within the LGBTQ+ community. Magenta is the combination of red and purple which on the LGBTQ+ flag mean life and spirit respectively. I also chose the color blue for academics, which as previously mentioned represents things like wisdom and intelligence. I chose the color green because it means safety and balance which represents my family. I decided on the color grey because it means stability and calm for my heritage.

SYNTHESIS (THROUGH ENGLISH AND SOCIAL STUDIES)For the synthesis portion I created a flag based on color meanings and my personal culture. I used the colors and based on their meanings connect. I decided to create a cloud outline because I've constantly been told my head is in the clouds. I chose grey for those clouds based on the idea of actual clouds, and the fact that I'm always thinking about my heritage. It is the basis of everything and it's always on the edge of my mind. In between everything is the color green, which represents balance and harmony. To my family is always there, they are always apart of everything I do. No matter what they have always supported me, kept me grounded and on track, thats why it has it's own spot but also interweaved throughout the rest of my flag. After these two, in the middle from top to bottom there is the color blue, the color yellow, and the color magenta. I chose a large trapezoidal spot for blue because one major part of my identity. I've always been pushed to prioritize my academics, and to male it a major part of myself. Now it's something I enjoy. The magenta is a slightly larger trapezoid, which was purely accidental, as it represents my identity. While it's a large part of my life, it isn't meant to overpower the other sections of my life. It's a prominent part of my life, it's part of how I connect with other people, along with my academics, and is one of the first things you'll notice about me. Yellow is in the center, not only because it's the brightest color on my flag but because the thing it represents is most likely the first thing you'll notice about me. I'm always singing and it's always there. It's ever present, and is usually one of the first things that draw people towards me and keep people interested within me. My flag is apart of a physical representation of myself, I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it!
